Longford is barely more than a cluster of houses and a pub squeezed between the Colnbrook bypass and the airport's northern perimeter, close enough to the runway that conversation on the pavement pauses every couple of minutes for a landing. Most of our bookings here are short and local — into Colnbrook for the shops, or down to West Drayton for the station — rather than anything to do with the airport itself, even though the terminal fence is a five-minute walk away.

Harmondsworth still has a village green and the Great Barn, a genuinely old building that predates the airport by five centuries, sitting almost in the shadow of the cargo sheds. It's a strange mix of rural and industrial, and locals here regularly book short hops to Sipson or West Drayton that have nothing to do with flights, alongside the crew and staff pickups that come from being this close to the perimeter.

Sipson is the largest of the villages around the northern boundary, a dense grid of residential streets that spent years under threat from a proposed third runway before those plans were shelved. It's a working residential area with its own shops on the main road, and our bookings here are mostly ordinary local traffic — school runs, evening trips out, deliveries collected — rather than airport transfers, even with the boundary fence in view from some back gardens.

Poyle sits on the western side, more industrial estate than village, with warehouses and distribution units lining the Colnbrook bypass and generating a steady flow of shift-pattern bookings at hours most taxi firms don't bother covering — the 5am start and the 11pm finish both come up regularly here. The bypass itself moves well most of the day but backs up hard around shift-change times, which we build into pickup slots for anyone booking a regular shift job.

Stanwell Moor, out towards the King George VI Reservoir, is the quietest of the five and the furthest from the terminal buildings themselves, which makes it feel oddly rural for somewhere this close to one of the busiest airports in the world. Pickups here run a few minutes longer than from Longford or Sipson, simply because of the extra distance around the perimeter road, and we factor that into the timing rather than treating every address near Heathrow as equally close.

Stanwell, a larger village just south of Stanwell Moor toward the M25, isn't hard against the fence the way Sipson or Longford are, but it still sends a steady flow of bookings connected to airport shift work, since so many households here have someone working airside or in one of the cargo sheds. The Northern Perimeter Road is usually the fastest way between these villages and any terminal, quicker than routing back onto the Bath Road, and our drivers default to it rather than whatever route a satnav pulls from further away.

The Bath Road corridor, lined with the airport hotels, is where a lot of local trade actually happens — staff finishing late shifts, crew changeovers, and guests who need a short run rather than a long transfer. For residents and businesses along this stretch, every terminal is genuinely close, usually five to fifteen minutes depending on which one and how the roundabouts on the airport's northern perimeter are running, and card payment and flight tracking are available on any booking that does involve a flight, even if most of our work out here doesn't.
